A very close friend of mine when into have a simple surgery a month ago and I remember him being in a massive amount of pain. Nurses gave him morphine from time to time but it never seemed to help but for a short period of time. Since the morphine did not seem to work, the doctor on call decided to give him the fentanyl patch. Before I left to go home, my friend seemed to be doing well, he said he didn’t feel much pain and was comfortable. Unfortunately when I came back that morning he had slipped into a coma, and it was being the patch had caused an overdose.
