Mucosal damage or some chronic symptoms are the ones that accompany acid reflux which is caused mainly due to abnormal reflux in esophagus. During Gastro esophageal reflux disease, the digestive juices which are a form of acids also rise up along with the food, and hence called acid reflux. Permanent or temporary changes can be observed in the barrier that separates the stomach from the esophagus, which is responsible for acid reflux. Troubled swallowing is responsible for dysphagia, which is one of the major symptoms accompanying acid reflux, apart from regurgitation and heart burns.

Heartburn is a phenomenon where the stomach acid comes in contact with the esophagus?s lining to cause irritation of the chest and throat. Coughing, effortless spitting and other respiratory problems are some of the symptoms that have to be watched out for in children to indicate acid reflux.
