I remember growing up trying to search in the phone book for one of my friend’s phone numbers. Her last name was Smith, a wonderfully generic name that resulted in pages and pages of different people. I did not know her parents’ names, and even if I had, it turned out that they were listed by their initials, anyway. Trying to search people records online often yields the same results. If a last name is very common, you might turn up a list of several hundred thousand people who go by that name. To make your search easier, having a city and state where they live or some other information about them will save you a lot of time.
