I got an education when I decided I wanted to renovate my attic into a living space for rental.  Informing my neighbors was no problem, but when they objected, I quickly learned I needed to know my rights under The Party Wall Act.  Because I did not want to end up in an argument with them, I contacted a reputable surveyor to draw up an agreement.  They even objected to that idea.  Ended up, I had to hire another surveyor to represent their side in the dispute.  When all was said and done, I was able to go ahead with my remodeling plans.  My neighbors have accepted the situation and things are moving ahead smoothly.
