Large corporations and businesses often hire accountants. The type of accountants they need at the top are chartered accountants because these accountants know the laws and rules behind what they do.  An accountant who has been chartered is not from the United States although they may practice there.  The organization that charters the accountants has over 5,000 members and these accountants are definitely experts in their field.  The organization was established in the mid 1800s.  It is a true privilege for an accountant to belong to such an organization.  It speaks very highly of their skills and knowledge about accounting.
