I am usually not one to take a stance and force people to either purchase something that they feel they do not need. But with it comes to breakdown cover I believe any family that owns a car, should in fact get this type of coverage just in case the worst happens. In the long run, it may cost you more to get a mechanic to tow the car to his shop and repair it, than to just have someone on the coverage come and repair the car on spot. I have been through it, and you can find anyone on the street and they have been through it too. Getting this type of coverage can save you money, as well as time without a car.
